About PTSL
Progressive Transport Solutions Limited (PTSL)provides specialist transportation engineering and road safety services to the public and private sectors.
The traditional perception of Traffic Engineering and Traffic Engineers is that the focus is on private vehicles and moving the maximum amount of traffic around as efficiently and as quickly as possible, often to the exclusion of all other modes and considerations.
PTSL’s approach aims to dispel that perception. The modern transport system has to work holistically to enhance accessibility for everyone so that there are safe, viable alternatives to the private motor vehicle that actually work. We also recognise that it is important that the streetscape environment is considered to provide an enduring legacy. PTSL offers Transportation Engineering rather than Traffic Engineering to offer solutions that provide both excellent transportation and environmental outcomes.
PTSL has a breadth of demonstrable skills and experience across public transport, walking and cycling as well as general traffic. This extends from area wide transportation planning to resolving issues at specific locations. This is further enhanced with experience on town centre and streetscape improvement projects in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
About Our People
Progressive Transport Solutions Limited (PTSL) is owned and operated by Martin Peake.
Martin graduated with a Masters degree in Civil Engineering (with Management) in 1993 and has been working in the traffic and transportation industry ever since.
Martin started his career in the UK working in Manchester and London for two major consulting engineering firms. During that time, he undertook a secondment to a local authority and worked extensively with Transport for London, Oxfordshire County Council and Suffolk County Council.
Throughout his career Martin has gained in depth skills in undertaking studies and designs in traffic signals, bus priority, town centre traffic management studies and road safety. He has particular expertise in traffic signal design including the design of traffic signal controlled roundabouts and has designed and commissioned over 40 traffic signal intersections and crossings in the UK and New Zealand.
Since 2006, Martin has been based in New Zealand, where again he has worked for two major consulting engineering firms in Auckland and in Wellington, and for Auckland Transport. He formed PTSL in 2014 where he has been providing traffic and transportation engineering services to public and private sector clients.
At PTSL, Martin has successfully delivered road safety and traffic engineering studies and projects with recommendations adopted and implemented by his clients. He regularly provides advice on resource consent applications, Notice of Requirements and Plan Changes. He has provided expert evidence at hearings and in the Environment Court on traffic and transportation matters.
Martin is a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers (UK) and is a member of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (UK).
